We believe that the decisions made regarding the breeding bucks used are some of the most important that a producer can make. His genetic potential quickly propagates through the herd, so it's critical that the traits he passes on are all positive in nature. We expect our bucks to be essentially maintenance free. A buck that requires deworming at any point should never be used as a herd sire.
GOT Savage
Savage is a buck that we acquired in 2022 from Hubbard Hill Kikos in Ponca City. He wasn't yet 2 years old in these pictures. We've been very pleased with the frame he's added to our kids.
JJS Iron Bill
Iron Bill was the foundation of our breed-up program. A grandson of Iron Horse and a Loverboy doe on top, and a grandson of Wild Bill on the bottom, he provided us with outstanding daughters. In our 2021 kidding season, 45% of the does that kidded were Iron Bill daughters. In 2020, Iron Bill moved to a new farm in Texas, to help another producer build their growing herd.
NRA Sonny Boy's My Poppa
As his name would imply, this buck is a direct son of HKF Sonny Boy, making him a genetic half brother to the legendary MRG Outlaw. Affectionately referred to as Poppa or Sonny Balls (for obvious reasons), he has adds width and depth to his kids. For our 2019 breeding season, we used him primarily on our commercial does, so we could get one more round of purebreds from Iron Bill. But for our 2020 breeding season, almost all of our purebred does went into Poppa's pen, and we are loving the look of the kids that are by him. Poppa is dual registered with NKR and AKGA.
TTP Silver's Nighthawk
TTP Silver's Nighthawk has been a second integral piece of our breed-up program. We have used him on all of our 50% Iron Bill daughters to create our 75% crossbreeds. We bred his first generation daughters in 2021 to create our first generation of 88% kids. He adds length and a rear end to his kids, and has been very parasite resistant.
FOF Iron Phantom
This is a home grown buck by JJS Iron Bill out of LOO Patches Sun Flame. Even as a triplets, he and his brother were two of the highest indexing kids in our 2020 crop. After watching them for a year and allowing them to breed some of our commercial does, we sold his brother as a herd sire to another farm, and have retained Phantom for ourselves.
